The Nautical Training imparted in this institution is of a very high quality and in accordance with the norms and standards laid down by the international bodies like the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The admission to B.Sc. Nautical Science programme of TS Chanakya is done on the basis of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) conducted by Indian Institute of Technologies. The TS Chanakya Navi Mumbai, accepts only all India ranking of IIT - JEE for scrutiny purpose, however students has to fulfill the other eligibility criteria laid down by the institute for admission and training. The TS Chanakya provides three months training for cadets of shipping companies. All the cadets are sponsored by their companies for Training at TS Chanakya. A number of companies prefer sponsoring their cadets for training at TS Chanakya before they join ships for initial ship training.
