KaKatiya University was established in August 19, 1976. Its evolution is a symbol of fulfillment of aspirations of the people of Telangana.
The University was originally established as a Post-Graduate centre but in April 30, 1976, it was granted autonomy in administrative and academic arenas by OU and consequently developed into KaKatiya University.
During these past years it extended its jurisdiction to cover the four economically backward districts of north Telengana region of Andhra Pradesh, namely Adilabad, Karimnagar, Khammam and Warangal.
The University is offering about 120 programs at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level in the Faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce and Business Management, Social Sciences, Education, Engineering and Pharmaceutical Sciences with 180 constituent and affiliated colleges spread over four districts of Andhra Pradesh.
KaKatiya University covers vast area of 650 acres of land. The various departments in the campus have spacious classrooms with audio-video facilities, seminar halls, computer labs, and faculty rooms. Science departments are well-equipped with modern tools to facilitate research work.
The University is constantly striving to meet the increased demand in the expansion of specialized courses form time to time.
The School of Distance Learning and Continuing Education
A full-fledged School of Distance Learning and Continuing Education of Kakatiya University came into existence in 1988. The basic task of the School is to avail all adult Indians in general and residents of North Telangana districts in particular regardless of their prior academic records.
In the process the School has scheduled its programmes with an increasing aim of covering larger segments of population vocations and professions and maintenance of a high quality of teaching, training, counselling and guidance.
The School of Distance Learning and Continuing Education (SDLCE) provides access to higher education, especially to all those who desire to improve their formal qualifications, skills and competence in a .specified field of subject.
