About Mangalore University
Mangalore University was established on September 10, 1980 by an act of the Karnataka State legislative assembly. The university caters to the higher educational needs of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu districts. It has become one of the major centres of learning and research in the state of Karnataka.
With less than three decades of its establishment, Mangalore University has created some 25 post graduate departments which offer different Post Graduate programs on the Campus. The University has 105 affiliated colleges (including two constituent colleges) imparting education in the field of arts, commerce and management, science, engineering, law and education.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has conferred the four star status to the University for its academic standard and excellence. The Campus Mangalagangotri is located on a picturesque hillock spreading over 350 acres of land, 18 kms away from Mangalore city.
Apart from offering various regular class room programs the varsity has also launched Correspondence courses as per the National Education Policy in order to reach higher education to all sections of the society. The Directorate of Correspondence Courses provides all necessary resources for conducting these programs.
