With an aim to facilitate women students irrespective of community, Mother Teresa Women’s University was established in the year 1984. The University is located at Kodaikanal, a quiet hill station in the Palani hills of South India.
The University is continuously striving for academic improvement and personality Development of the girls. It also taking steps to promote their employment
opportunities.
Mother Teresa Women’s University has well-equipped libraries and laboratories to provide facilities for higher education and research work as well.
Distance Education
The School of Distance Education of Mother Teresa Women's University was started in 1988. The School is making efforts since its inception to overcome all the obstacles in the way of higher education of girls and women who due to some unavoidable reasons couldn’t be regular students.
The School Of Distance Education is in function from Kodaikanal and has also many study centers in major cities and towns to accessible to more women and to offer more academic support to them.
To meet with the needs of changing time, the School Of Distance Education offers courses to equip women to compete in the fields of Management, Business Administration, and Information Technology. Further it also offer research programmes in traditional disciplines.
It has also extended its boundaries by offering Diploma and Certificate courses to the women at the grass root level in NGO management, Self Help Groups, Community Health Workers and Women Leaders in Political and Civic Administration.
