Sri Venkateswara University came into existence in1954 at Tirupati, the world’s famous temple town in the sprawling campus of 1000 acres with a panoramic and pleasant hill view. This is an effort of great visionaries Late Sri Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Late Sri Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy who had realized the educational needs and aspirations of the people of Rayalaseema area.
The University through its 58 departments is offering 71 different PG courses and several Diploma and Certificate courses with total academic faculty strength of 400 and 1500 non-teaching and student strength of 5000, including research scholars. Several new and professional PG courses have also been introduced during recent years.
About DDE, Sri Venkateswara University
The Directorate of Distance Education, Sri Venkateswara University was started in the year 1972 as the Institute of Correspondence Courses to cater the needs of students who cannot pursue conventional mode of education.
The courses offered by the DDE have been designed to help individuals who look upon education as life-time activity and enhance their knowledge in an existing discipline of study or acquire proficiency in a new area may also benefit from the courses.
One can pursue any of the courses from any parts of the country through the distance mode. The Directorate follows the UGC norms.
