English Literature is the subject which is widely studied by students under humanities stream at undergraduate, post graduate and doctorate levels.

The term English literature refers to literature written in the English language. Many linguistic and sociolinguistic are the first texts written for English Honors.

However, English literature, literature was first written in English since c.1450 by the inhabitants of the British Isles. English was the language spoken initially by Germanic Tribes commonly known as Old English. But from 1066 onwards, the language is known to scholars as Middle English.

Latter,came the stage when Literature was introduced and has its own history which connected with cultural history more extensively.
