Research and projects of IIITM Kerala

The Indian Institute of Technology and Management Kerala (IIITMK) has dedicated research team. The team of IIITMK is a forum of dedicated and experienced professionals from a range of establishments.

Some R & D team contributions of IIITMK are mentioned underneath in short.

K-Core- K-Core is an expansion of object oriented database. The concept was first enforced on Abiotic Stress in Crops. Further, the concept was implemented for designing knowledge repository of the institute.

Spider- Spider is the ability of a Web Crawler for searching the web and enriching the digital library. Spider supports well the Satellite Data Casting Downloads.

Both K-Core and Spider further developed and marketed by 'Transversal e Networks'.

One more fascinating derivative of the above two innovations was the use of Satellite data casting for Agriculture which further led to the KISSAN project.

At present the R&D team of IIITM Kerala is conducting two major projects

1. Intelligent Archival System, and
2. MuSIC- a Low Cost Client Solution

The institute has three major projects in their formative stages, namely

• Kerala Education Grid,
• Karshaka Information Systems, Services And Networking (KISSAN) and
• Tele-Health.
