About the course:

Master of Science in Digital Design & Embedded System [MSDDES]
About the course:
The increasing demand for integrated circuits along with strict price / performance goals, time constraints in design and deployment of semiconductor process technologies are driving the designers to deep sub micron technology. The conventional design flows and methodologies need to be appropriately enhanced. Thus the current CAD environment supporting automated higher abstraction level such as lay outing have to be suitably addressed.
The post graduate program in the first semester deals with the issues related to designing few VLSI circuits taking into considerations like design rule checks and process variations. The subjects for CAD for VLSI deals with issue related to optimum design methodologies. The subject Embedded systems design covers the various issues in the design and development of a complete embedded product. The subjects such as Data Structures and Algorithms and Systems software helps the designer to look into the aspects of EDA tool design.
The subjects like real time operating system deals with the specifications and the principles of real time issues and Device driver gives insight into the kernel issues and system calls. The course also includes discussion on various micro-controllers and designing some modules using the same. Analog design aspects are covered in Advanced VLSI design and noise elimination methods are covered in Digital Signal Processing.
Eligibility:
Only corporate employees nominated by the company will be eligible for admission. While the selection of employees to follow this degree is left to discretion of company, such employees should have a minimum 50% marks in their BE-MSc (Computer Science or Information Technology)/AIME programs which are recognized by Manipal Academy of Higher Education.

Master of Science in Embedded and Control Systems Design [MS-ECSD]
The development of increasingly complex engineering systems (so called embedded control systems), found for example in aircrafts, cars, and manufacturing systems, where dedicated microcontrollers are combined according to a discrete switching logic, has provided new challenges in the areas of Modeling, Simulation, software development and Control system design. The objective of this course is to model, analyze, and control such systems, where continuous modes are linked together according to given transition rules. For this, hybrid formalism will be introduced by combining ideas from Electrical Engineering, computer science, with linear and non-linear control theory.
Objectives :
To give students the opportunity to study and attain knowledge in Embedded Systems design and Control Systems design;
To develop student ability to apply knowledge of designing applications using Embedded Controllers, use of design & development tools, hardware and software design issues, Modeling and simulation of systems and sub systems, performance analysis, solving methods and tools to realistic research and industry-related problems;
To equip students with the tools and knowledge necessary for contributing to the needs of a high-technology society through preparation for continued learning;
To prepare students for advanced graduate work in Embedded & Control System design.

Master of Science in Very Large Scale Integration - Computer Aided Design [MS-VLSI-CAD]
About the course:
The increasing demand for integrated circuits along with strict price/performance goals, time constraints in design and deployment and the rapid developments in semiconductor process technologies are driving us towards designs of 90 nano meters and below. These processes are known as deep sub micron or very deep sub micron technologies. With the advent of deep sub micron technologies, conventional design flows and methodologies need to be appropriately enhanced. Thus the current CAD environment supporting automated higher abstraction levels like system level synthesis as well as more manual and lower abstraction levels such as layouting have to be correspondingly upgraded. Understanding of the nuances of Advanced Digital Logic and VLSI theory is indeed the core objective. Emphasis is given on digital system design in VHDL and Verilog using design entry tools like Active HDL and Altera Max + Plus 2, simulation using VCS and ModelSim.
Eligibility: Only corporate employees will be eligible for admission. While the selection of employees to follow this degree is left to discretion of individual corporate, such employees should have a minimum 50% marks in their BE/MTech/MSc (Computer Science or Information Technology)/AIME programs which are recognized by Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
