About Osmania University

Osmania University was established in 1918.It is the seventh oldest University in India and the third oldest in the south India. However, it is also the first University established in the erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad.

The University is spread over the total area of about 1600 acres of land. As such it is possibly the largest higher education institute in the country. The wide campus of the University having large number of buildings, accommodate nearly 300,000 students pursuing higher education. It has affiliated colleges and districts centres under its reign.

It offers varied courses in the fields of Humanities, Arts, Science, Social Sciences, Law, Engineering, Technology, Commerce and Business Management, Information Technology and Oriental Languages.

Throughout the eight decades of its existence, it has shown significant progress and success to retain the integrated development of its all faculties.

Besides, Osmania University has also being awarded the five star status by the National Accreditation and Assessment council (NAAC) of the University Grants Commission in the year of 2001.

Centre for Distance Education

The Centre for Distance Education, Osmania University has witnessed significant growth
since its inception. It evolved as one of the pioneering institutions in the field of Distance Education. It has also registered its potential for excellence.

After achieving success of UG, PG programmes, the Centre has introduced CD and Web based Modular Certified courses. In 2001-02, it started Master of Information Systems & E-Commerce (MISEC), Advance Diploma in Bio-Informatics, PG Diploma in Insurance and Risk Management, Modular Certificate Courses in Information Systems, Computers and Soft and Professional skills.
