About Pondicherry University

Pondicherry University was established in October 1985 by the Government of India through an Act of Parliament. The university is a central university and is funded fully by UGC. It is a member of the Association of the Indian Universities and the Association of Commonwealth Universities. Admission is open to candidates all over India. The medium of instruction is English for all of its courses except language courses which are offered in their respective language.

Directorate of Distance Education

Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), Pondicherry University was established in 1995. The courses under distance mode of education were started in the academic session 1995-96 to cater to the needs of the student community. The courses offered by the Directorate are innovative and job oriented. The programmes such as MBA Marketing Management, MBA Financial Management, MBA Foreign Trade and PG Diploma in Software Marketing are some of the very first programmes to be launched through Distance mode in the entire Asian continent.
