About Pt. Sunderlal Sharma (Open) University
With an aim to educate more and more rural people and to make education accessible to those who couldn’t manage to go distant Universities, Pt. Sundarlal Sharma (Open) University (PSSOU), Chhattisgarh was established. It was founded by Chhattisgarh legislature in the 55th year of the republic of India.
The university was formally inaugurated by the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Shri Lal Krishna Advani.
The University has jurisdiction over entire region of Chattisgarh. The university campus is situated in the north of Bilaspur city on the Bilaspur-Korba road.
PSSOU is one of the most learner oriented Universities. It follows a multi-channel approach for instruction. Counseling and Practical Sessions are also organized by the University.
PSSOU Library is the most resourceful information centre of the university in various courses. The library has collection of books, journals and other related materials in the field of Distance Education. The Library was established in 2005 in tune with the objectives of PSSOU.
The Pt. Sundarlal Sharma (Open) University operates through a three-tier system having University Headquarters at Vyapar Vihar, Bilaspur; 04 Regional Centers Bilaspur, Raipur, Ambikapur, and Jagdalpur and 186 Community Learning Centre (study centers) scattered all over the state.
