The Placement Cell of IIT Madras maintains outstanding relation with the industry (both private and public sectors), which in turn helps students in securing placement. Every year a large number of recruiters come to IIT Madras for recruitment. Usually the companies are from the following sectors.

The Placement Office is assisted by a committee comprising representatives of students from the under-graduate and post-graduate engineering streams and the science streams.
