Syndicate Bank Probationary Officer (P.O.) Exam

Syndicate Bank is one of the major and oldest commercial nationalized banks of India. Since 2010, all recruitment at nationalized banks are done through a common process: common written examination (CWE), and those who clear through this examination, are called up for a common interview. If you qualify, you may be provisionally given a job you aspired for, in one of the participating banks. This common recruitment is conducted by an autonomous body, the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS.)
Note – Since almost all the examinations that are conducted, are done through the online mode only, Computer knowledge is a must.
Eligibility Criteria for IBPS Examination
The followings are the eligibility criteria for Syndicate Bank PO recruitment:
Nationality
- Must be an Indian citizen
- Subjects from Nepal or Bhutan
- Tibetan Refugees who came to India to settle permanently and to whom eligibility certificates have been issued by the Government of India.
Age Restrictions
Minimum age- 20 years
Maximum age- 30 years
Relaxation of Age Restrictions of Upper Limit
- SC/ST – 5 years
- OBC – 3 years
- Person with Disabilities – 10 years
- Ex-servicemen, Commissioned officers -5 years
Educational Qualifications
A graduate degree from any university recognized by the Government of India or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government
Important Dates
- Last date of Registration: 16 December 2015
- Online Payment of Fees: 16 December 2015 – 11 August 201431 December 2015
- Online Examination date: 7 February, 2016
- Declaration of Final Results: 1 March, 2016
Examination Syllabus and Pattern
The online CWE examination comprises of five sections, i.e., English Language, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Computer Knowledge. There will a total of 200 questions in the examination comprising of all these.
Note: Candidates will be awarded 1 mark for every right answer and 0.25 would be deducted for every wrong answer. But, if a question is left unattended, i.e. the applicant hasn’t given any answer to that question, then neither marks will be given nor deducted.
Below is the division or the breakdown of the pattern of the examination, i.e., how many marks are there for each section respectively. A combined time of two hours would be provided to answer all the questions of the Common Written Examination (CWE) conducted online.
1. Reasoning- 50
2. English Language- 40
3. Quantitative Aptitude- 50
4. General Awareness- 40
5. Computer Knowledge- 20
How to apply?
Candidates can only apply online, no other mode of applications are accepted. It was planned to introduce offline mode as well initially but was later discarded unknowingly.
Online applications are acceptable from 22 July 2014 to 11 August 2014, no exceptions.

Application Fees
The application fees can be paid either online, and there is an offline payment system arrangement as well in case applicants are unable to pay the application fees online.
The application fees for the Common Written Examination are as follows:
– Rs.100 for ST/SC/PWD applicants.
– Rs. 600 for the remainder.
Post Common Written Examination (CWE)
After appearing for the CWE, i.e., the common written examination which was conducted online, candidates which secure the set of marks required in each section will be called up for an interview in each of their local areas, where they would be interviewed by the panel appointed by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS)
