India has seen a tremendous rise in the number of students opting for management courses after their basic graduation degree. Most people feel this is because after a normal degree it takes years for a person to gain experience at managerial level which slows their growth curve. And with this increase many colleges have emerged offering various courses in MBA. From Finance, Marketing to Human resources, colleges have a very big pool of courses to choose from. However, there are less number of colleges like IIMs and XLRIs that give a credible management degree and therefore have tough level entrance tests like CAT and XAT that takes away the cream level of students for management studies.
But there is a catch. Most people don’t know that there are other colleges too who offer the same level of quality education in management and they do not restrict themselves to CAT and XAT. These colleges have their own entrances but most of them also accept scores from MAT exam.
MAT (Management Aptitude Test) is an online entrance exam conducted by AIMA (All India Management Association) and here are 5 reasons why you should choose to give MAT over any other management entrance examinations:
Schedule: MAT exams are conducted quarterly in February, May, September and December. This makes it very easier for students appearing for any exams, to not waste their time for another year in case they don’t get selected. MAT gives them an opportunity not only to score more marks but in the same year.
|Section No.||Section||No. of Questions||Time for each section (estimated)|
|3||Data Analysis and Sufficiency||40||35|
|4||Intelligence and Critical Reasoning||40||30|
|5||Indian and Global Environment||40||15|
Not only this, MAT gives you the option of solving the paper either in online (Computer) of offline mode (Pencil and OMR). This is a boon to students as they can choose whatever mode they are comfortable in.
3. Difficulty level: The difficulty level of MAT exams are comparatively lesser, students are seen preparing for CAT and scoring less in practice papers but receiving a good score in MAT. MAT is not aimed at finding who is the best amongst the students but what it really does is understand the student’s aptitude and offer them a place in the management world.
4. Associated colleges: MAT is the biggest management entrance conducted every year because it is associated with over 600 colleges across the country and sees the highest number of applicants each year. This is advantageous for students because whatever marks they score, they do get a seat in one of these colleges. AIMA believes that just because a person is not able to crack difficult exams doesn’t mean they cannot pursue higher studies in management.
5. Quality colleges: Many people may wonder what quality of education do the colleges associated with AIMA offer. MAT scores are accepted by one of the top 10 and 20 B-schools in the country including Department of Management Studies, IIT, Madras; Great Lakes Institutes of Management, Chennai and Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Mumbai. These colleges are not only the topmost of the country but also offer the education at comparatively less cost than other major management colleges.
So, what would be your reason to give MAT?
