The 2-year Bachelor of Education course might soon be replaced by a 4-year integrated teacher training program. The 2- year Bachelor of Education course was introduced just 3 years back replacing the 1 year Bachelor of Education course that existed earlier.

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has been asked by the Human Resources and Development Ministry to start working on the 4 year integrated B.A.-B.Ed. and B.Sc.-B.Ed. courses. This step is being taken to ensure that only serious students opt for the teacher's training program. Students will be able to take admission to the four-year training program right after finishing class 12.
