NID 2015 Application Process

You can apply for a maximum of two postgraduate disciplines, but you must submit two separate application forms along with separate sets of documents and fees. You are required to enclose the following documents along with the NID application forms:

For B.Des application:

  • Attested copies of SSC and HSC marksheets (submit a bonafide certificate from your school or college if you are appearing for the qualifying exam in the coming year)
  • Attested copy of proof of date of birth.
  • Attested copy of relevant category/caste certificate if applying under SC/ ST/ PH/ OBC categories (The required format for the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate is available on the admissions page of the official website. The certificate should be valid for the year 2014-15)
  • B.Des hall ticket (both copies) with attached recent photographs of yourself

For M.Des application:

  • Attested copies of SSC and HSC marksheets, completed years’ of graduation and degree certificate or passing certificate or a provisional certificate (submit a bonafide certificate from your college if you are appearing for the qualifying exam in the coming year)
  • Attested copy of proof of date of birth
  • Attested copy of relevant category/ caste certificate if applying under SC/ST/PH/OBC categories (The required format for the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate is available on the admissions page of the official website. The certificate should be valid for the year 2014-15)
  • Attested copies of experience certificate
  • M.Des hall ticket (both copies) dully filled with your recent photographs

Exam fee

The exam fee for DAT 2015-16 is Rs.1500 for general candidates and Rs.750 for candidates applying under reserved category. Draw a Demand Draft of the required amount at any nationalised bank in favour of ‘National Institute of Design’ payable at Ahmedabad and post or hand over the fee along with your application form and supporting documents.

 

Overseas applicantsIf you are applying to NID as an overseas candidate, download the ‘Overseas Students form’ from the official website, fill in the details and attach the following documents:

  • Attested copy of the relevant pages of your passport containing your details
  • Attested copy of proof of your NRI/SAARC/foreign national status (submit a certificate drawn from the Indian embassy of your country that states your parents’ professions and employment details.)
  • For GDPD applicants: Attested copies of SSC and HSC marksheets (submit a bonafide certificate from your school or college if you are appearing for the qualifying exam in the coming year)
  • For PGDPD applicants: Attested copies of SSC and HSC marksheets, completed years’ of graduation and degree certificate or passing certificate or a provisional certificate (submit a bonafide certificate from your college if you are appearing for the qualifying exam in the coming year)
  • Residential address of the country you are staying in at the time of application (to be included in the application form)
  • An equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, to be submitted prior to admission in case degree/certificate is obtained from university/board outside India.

Exam fee for overseas applicants: Create a Demand Draft of $30 in favour of National Institute of Design, payable at Ahmedabad.
