It is administered by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations, Government of India. Scholarship holders are directly nominated by ICCR to the Institute. These students must also satisfy the eligibility criteria for admission under foreign nationals.
A student who is registered for an Engineering/Technology degree in a recognized Institute/University in India or abroad is eligible for being considered as a casual student at IIT Delhi. He/she should be officially sponsored by the Institute/University where he/she is studying. Such a studentship is granted to carry out research or to avail laboratory or other academic facilities or for attending a formal set of courses, for a maximum period of 6 months/one semester
Joint Admission Test to M.Sc.(JAM) is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technologies – IITs for admission to Master of Science ( M.Sc.) and other post–B.Sc. programmes offered at the 7 different Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an All-India Examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT’s). Admission to ME and MTech programs largely depends upon GATE percentile score. For details, click here.
Admission to the Ph.D. programmes is normally made on the basis of a interview conducted by the Department/Centre concerned through its Department research committee (DRC) / Centre research committee (CRC). DRC/CRC may decide to conduct a written test as well to screen the candidates.
The Government of India has started Quality Improvement Programme – QIP in 1970. The programme is implemented and monitored by All India Council for Technical Education – AICTE, a statuary body of government of India. A number of short-term courses have also been organised by the QIP Centres for the benefit of the faculty members from engineering colleges.
