Started in 1999, the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a fellowship program for students of basic sciences who wish to pursue a career in scientific research. The main aim of the Department of Science and Technology, which launched this program, is to attract young talented minds who have an aptitude for scientific research and studies and help them realise their full potential.
The scholarship is pretty generous and supports students till the pre-Ph.D level. In addition to this, summer programmes are also arranged for the students at elite research and education institutions across India.
