DU Admission 2023: Applicants Eligible to Apply Even if They Didn't Choose Delhi University in CUET UG Registration

For those aspiring to join Delhi University, there is good news. Candidates who didn’t select Delhi University as a preference during their registration for CUET UG 2023 can still apply for admission to the university through the CSAS portal.
The University of Delhi has initiated registrations for undergraduate admission for the academic year 2023-24 using the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS 2023) portal. This invitation is extended to candidates who appeared for the CUET UG 2023 examinations. Even if these aspirants did not select Delhi University as a preference during their CUET UG 2023 registration, they have the opportunity to apply for admission through the CSAS portal.
Haneet Gandhi, the Dean of Admission at Delhi University, stated that applicants who chose the ‘unreserved’ category during the CUET registration could also apply under the reserved category at the CSAS portal “if their certificate is ready.” On June 14, Delhi University launched the CSAS UG 2023 portal and urged students who desire admission to the university to submit their applications through the portal.
During a webinar, the admission branch team provided detailed guidance on the registration process, admission procedures, and form filling. They also addressed various questions from the aspirants.
One common question was whether students could apply to Delhi University if they hadn’t selected it while indicating their preferences. In the previous year, only those students who selected Delhi University as one of their preferences were permitted to apply through the CSAS portal.
Gandhi clarified, “If a candidate did not select Delhi University as a preference during CUET-UG registration, they can still apply for admission through the university’s CSAS portal. Similarly, if a student selected desired programs, they can also apply for those programs during phase II of the CUET.”
Another query concerned the change of categories. Gandhi responded, “Ideally, one should not do that, but if there is an issue with your certificate and it is now ready, you can opt for the reserved category. Except for PWD students, aspirants can change their categories while filling out the CSAS portal. However, once they have applied through the CSAS portal, they cannot change their categories.”
The admission process for nearly 71,000 seats across 78 undergraduate programs for the academic year 2023-24 is being conducted through the CSAS portal.
When asked if students could update their mobile number and email ID used during the CUET application, Gandhi explained that students can provide alternate numbers, but Delhi University considers the data from CUET as the only authentic source. Therefore, all information is sent to the number provided during CUET registration.
DU UG Admission Fee
Similar to the previous year, admission is based on the merit score in CUET. The registration fees are Rs. 250 for UR, OBC-NCL, and EWS candidates, while it is Rs. 100 for SC/ST and PwBD candidates.
DU UG Admission: Courses
The university offers 78 undergraduate programs and 198 combinations for the BA program through its 68 colleges. The University of Delhi provides approximately 1,550 unique programs and other combinations across colleges. The most sought-after postgraduate course is MA (Political Science).
The CSAS (UG) registration process is divided into two phases. The first phase, which began on Wednesday, involves registering and providing personal details and academic scores obtained in Class 12.
DU UG Admission 2023 Phase 2 Date
The second phase of the CSAS (UG) process will begin after the CUET (UG) results are declared in the second week of July. To participate in the second phase, candidates need to log in to their CSAS dashboard and complete the preference filling.
The University of Delhi has identified 26 Games/Sports under its Sports Supernumerary Quota and 14 categories (including NSS and NCC) under the Extra Curricular Activities supernumerary quota.
It has been decided that 5 percent of the total sanctioned strength of each college will be allocated for the ECA and Sports supernumerary quota. Aspirants also inquired whether a student who has applied for admission through the Sports or ECA quota would be considered for an ordinary seat.
Amit Pundir, Joint Dean of Admission, informed that such students would first be considered for the ordinary seats. “You will be considered in the first round of allocation and allotted a seat. After the ECA and sports trials, a new score will be calculated, and based on that, you will be allotted new seats. You will have the choice of selecting which seat you want to go for,” Pundir explained.
