Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University Distance Education

Pandit Sundarlal Sharma (Open) University (PSSOU) Chhattisgarh was established on 20 January 2005 under Chhattisgarh legislature. The former Deputy Prime Minister, Govt. of India and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Shri Lal Krishna Advani inaugurated the University. 

The University offers special distance learning programs for handicap students which differs the varsity from other conventional universities. The Open University believes in active participation of students in the teaching learning process and wishes to convert the academic scenario to more students friendly.

Courses at PSSOU are offered at undergraduate and post graduate levels, n addition to various diploma courses. Most of the instructions are imparted through distance rather than face-to-face communication. It has opened regional study centers in Raipur, Bastar, Ambikapur, and Bilaspur. The University provides amenities like central library, medical facilities, computer lab, media lab, and hostel. 

The Open University system is learner-oriented. Instructions for courses is given through audio video cassettes, face to face counseling, self instructional printed learning materials, lessons through radio and Doordarshan. Practical sessions are also held at study centers. Students can contact Program Coordinator by postal mail or telephone.
