As per the provisions of the Dentists Act, 1948 (XVI of 1948), Dental Council of India is entrusted with the following responsibility.
Supervision of Dental Education – at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels across the country.
Granting permission for –
To prescribe standard syllabus for the training of the dentists, dental hygienists, dental mechanics and the conditions for such training.
To set the standards of examinations and other requirements to be satisfied to avail recognition under the Act.
