To train Scientists and Engineers in the field of Physics, the institute offers the following programs :

  • Ph.D Program
  • Technical Training Program
  • Summer Programs

Ph. D Programme :

The admissions to the five-year course are made on the basis of a written test followed by a personal interview. The test and the interview usually take place in the month of June.

Eligibility : The candidates seeking a seat in the Ph.D program must have a master’s degree in (Physics/Applied Physics).

Technical Training Programme :

The one-year technical training program in the field of plasma science and technology is made on the basis of a written test followed by a personal interview. Only students with a masters degree in (Physics/Applied physics), or B.E in Computer / Electrical / communication / Electronics/ Instrumentation/ Mechanical are eligible for admission in the program.

Note : During the period of training, the trainees will be paid a stipend of Rs. 5400/- per month with hostel accommodation.

Summer Programs :

The institute also carries a six-week programme for selected students. Under this program, the students gets an opportunity to interact with scientists of the Institute and get to know about various research tools of physics through a project and a series of lectures.

Candidates, in the first year of M.Sc (Physics) program can take up the programme. All the participants are provided a stipend by the institute. However, the candidates have to enclose two reference letters from their teachers along with the application letter for the program.
