Introduction
NALSAR University, Hyderabad, an institution of national eminence in the field of legal education and research, is a residential University established under the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research University Act, 1998, (Andhra Pradesh Act 34 of 1998). It is a fully residential university engaged in teaching and promoting research in law and allied disciplines. NALSAR has the best infrastructure complemented by a challenging intellectual environment. It offers the best academic facility in terms of curriculum, teaching methods, skill acquisition, exchange programmes, mooting prospects, practical training, placements and most importantly social awareness.
To be a part of the exciting experience of NALSAR University, an aspiring student has to clear CLAT – The Common law Admission Test. The varsity offers two programs – B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) – five years integrated course and 2 years LL.M. program.
Course and Eligibility
Program:Â B.A., LL.B. (Hons.)
Eligibility: (i) The candidate seeking admission must have passed 10 2 or its equivalent examination securing 50% of marks in the aggregate and those who are taking this examination in the current year are also entitled to apply
(ii) He/she must be less than 20 years of age as on 1st July, 2008 (22 years in case of SC/ST candidates and 25 years in case of persons with disability)
Total Intake: – 80 (Eighty)
Program:Â LL.M.Â
Eligibility: A candidate with LL.B./B.L. degree or equivalent degree from any University with 55% of marks is eligible to apply for LL.M.. The maximum intake will be 60 subject to SC (15%), ST (7.5%) and disability (3%) reservations.
Foreign candidates: There is no separate quota for foreign students. Interested foreign students may apply directly in the CLAT application form with supporting documents to the Registrar, NALSAR, Hyderabad.
Course Pattern
NALSAR follows the semester system of examination where the academic year is divided into two parts and five subjects are taught in each semester of a five year LL.B./B.L. degree.
Similarly The LL.M. is based on the semester system. The first semester will have four compulsory courses. In the next two semesters, the students will take up papers and seminars in their respective subjects of choice. In the fourth semester, the students will write the dissertation.
