The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune, India is one of the most reputed medical colleges in India offering MBBS, nursing, and other post-graduate medical courses. AFMC, Pune is the first medical college set up by the Armed Forces of any country in Asia. Its uniqueness lies in the way it combines medical education with training specific to the health care needs of India’s Armed Forces. AFMC Pune is currently affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) and is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) to conduct Undergraduate and various Post – Graduate medical courses.

A total of 130 candidates (including a maximum of 25 girls) will be selected for the MBBS seats. All the 105 boys and 25 girls admitted to AFMC, Pune has a compulsory liability to serve as commissioned officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services upon graduation. The type of commission will depend upon the vacancies available and merit-cum-option at the final MBBS examination.
Ten seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates who also have similar service liability and have to fulfill the requirements of medical fitness, age, educational qualification, and qualifying for the entrance examination.

The MBBS course duration at AFMC Pune is 4 years and 6 months followed by 1 year of compulsory rotating internship training. Candidates who successfully complete coursework are exclusively appointed as doctors to deploy their duties in Indian Armed Forces. AFMC Pune is residential medical college and research institution offering opportunities to men and women. The MBBS course at AFMC begins in August 2022.
The liability of the SSC officers passing out of AFMC to serve the Armed Forces Medical Services would be seven (7) years. All candidates admitted to the college are required to execute a bond to this effect for 25 lacs (Rupees twenty-five lacs) at the time of joining the college. Students removed from service liability due to any reason will have to pay the bond money as per conditions laid down by Govt of India.

AFMC Pune no longer conducts its own medical entrance exam. Admission to the MBBS program offered at AFMC, Pune, India is done through the AIPMT exam (conducted by the CBSE). This is followed by a “Test of English Language, Comprehension, Logic, and Reasoning (ToELR)” (conducted by AFMC) and a Psychological Assessment-cum-Interview at AFMC, Pune. AFMC Pune will be accepting AIPMT scores for its MBBS admissions. Please go through the list of AIPMT exam centers. The “Test of English Language, Comprehension, Logic, and Reasoning (ToELR)” will be conducted by AFMC at AFMC, Pune itself.

AIPMT 2022 results declaration will be made by the end of the 2nd week of July 2022 (Tentative). Candidates shortlisted basis of AIPMT scores will be then called for ToELR and Interview at AFMC, Pune.
AFMC Pune final results will be announced on the basis of the final score (AIPMT-2022 score, ToELR score, and interview marks) and two merit lists, one for boys and one for girls, will be drawn up. Admissions will be offered only to candidates on these merit lists in accordance with their final merit position.
Individual call letters of admission will be mailed by post only to selected candidates who have to join AFMC. These candidates will also be informed in their e-mail. The AFMC result will be also published by the O/o DGAFMS in leading national newspapers and displayed on the AFC official website.
