A business management career focuses on planning, execution, analysis and supervision of business processes. A myriad of skills are required – communication, leadership ability, analytical ability and environmental awareness. Both under-graduate and post-graduate levels are important, but the latter especially so; the two year MBA, which teaches is a much sought after course. A Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) is also frequently sought by students.
Undergraduate business management courses such as the Bachelor of Business Management (BBM), Bachelor of Business administration (BBA) & Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS) require completion of 10 + 2 with 50% (45% for SC/ST); preference may be given to Math/Commerce graduates. Selection is done by entrance examination, group discussion and personal interview performance.
Management graduates can find a place for themselves practically everywhere. Opportunities abound not just across industries, but even across management specialisations such as marketing managers, financial managers, strategic mangers, operations managers and human resource managers. Further jobs are always being created by the MNCs that come in to the country, and by our companies that expand abroad.

Remuneration is usually good even at the level (Rs. 8000 – 12000) but senior managers can command much higher salaries, as can managers in large private companies.
