IIM Calcutta MBA Admission Criteria 2017-2019

The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) offers two full-time management courses of two-years’ duration, namely the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Aided Management (PGDCM). Though your CAT 2016 or GMAT score is an important element of applying to these courses, the final admission list of selected candidates is drawn through a multi-step process that takes into account many parameters.
CAT 2016 Cutoff
Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta)Â has released the cutoff percentile and it stands at 90 for General Category candidates while it is 70 for SC, ST and PWD/DA candidates.

If your CAT 2016 score surpasses the minimum percentile requirement, you will qualify for the next selection stage, which involves evaluation of your marks obtained in class X and class XII and allotting of corresponding points. The point system followed by IIM Calcutta against SSC and HSC marks is as follows:
Class X Marks (in %) and Class XII Marks (in %) - ≥81

Class X Marks (in %) and Class XII Marks (in %) - ≥ 76 and < 81

The percentage of marks in class X and XII is the aggregate of marks obtained in all subjects that appear in the marksheet.
Next, calculation of a composite score is carried out if you qualify the minimum cut-off requirement of CAT 2016 score across sections AND percentage marks in class X and XII.

Generating short-lists for PI stage
A category-wise list of candidates will be created to invite for the personal interview (PI) stage. The components that are taken into account include the CAT 2016 score, class x marks, class XII marks and Gender Diversity factor. A composite score is created based on these components by allotting weights and calculating points:

- C = Points awarded for Class X marks

The final cut-off list for inviting candidates for the PI stage will be created for MBA admissions 2017 – 2019 based on the following parameters:
- Your composite score
- Your section-wise and overall percentile in CAT 2016
- Intake of batch
Personal Interview (PI) Criteria
Your performance in the personal interview (PI) and the Writing Ability Test (WAT) will be evaluated and the points will be added in the final selection process.

Final selection is carried out on the basis of the following criteria and weights allotted against each:

* You are eligible for ADFB if you hold a Bachelor’s degree in BA, BA (H), B.Sc, B.Sc.(H), BS, B.Com, B.Com(H), BCA, BBA, B.Pharma, LL.B, MBBS, BDS or any other non-engineering bachelor’s degree.
** You are eligible for ADFP if you hold Post Graduation (PG)/Professional Qualification like ICAI, ICWA, Company Secretary in form of Master’s degree like MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MS, MD, LL.M or any other non-engineering post graduate degree. Further, you will be eligible for ADFP points if you have completed the post graduation qualification by 31 January, 2017.

Admission Criteria for Overseas Students
You must apply as ‘overseas candidate’ if you are an Indian or foreign national working or studying abroad between the period of 1 January, 2016 and 15 February, 2017. However, you will not be considered under the overseas category in case you were likely to be in India during the conduction of CAT 2016 exam (between 4 November – 4 December, 2016), or residing in neighbouring countries like Nepal with no visa restrictions.
As an overseas candidate, your preliminary selection to IIM Calcutta’s PGDM and PGDCM programs will be based on your GMAT score, academic performance record, work experience relevant to the institute’s program and letters of reference. If shortlisted, you will be called for interview round that will be held in mid-February to end-March 2017 in Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi. Final selection is based on evaluating all parameters mentioned above, including performance in interview.
