IIM Ranchi MBA Admission Criteria 2017-2019

The selection criteria for admission to Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) to the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi have been announced.

The admission process of IIM Ranchi has been divided into three stages which includes WAT & PI rounds.

Phase 1: Initial Short-listing for WAT/PI

Candidates eligible for the written ability test (WAT)personal interview (PI) process shall be first shortlisted. The phase one shortlist shall be prepared on the basis of CAT 2016 percentile and is expected to be declared around mid-January.

The cut-off percentile scores as per various sections in the test are listed below:

Phase 2: PI and WAT Process

On selection, shortlisted candidates would be required to undergo the written ability test and personal interview round. The test shall be held across five centres i.e. Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore. A common test shall be conducted for the six new IIMs by IIM Rohtak.

Phase 3: Final Admission

Post the personal interview and WAT process, the final admission offer shall be made based on the performance of applicants in the admission process and their academic and professional profiles.

The final list shall be made on the basis of the following components:

Academic Profile: It is based on the academic scores in higher school level and senior secondary school level.

Work Experience: It includes your previous experience as an employee in an organization.

Academic diversity: If the candidate holds a bachelor’s degree other than that of a Engineering degree then he/she shall be awarded two marks, else zero.

Gender Diversity: Five marks will be awarded to all female candidates.

Overseas Candidates

Indian and foreign nationals living, working or studying outside India for the period from January 1, 2016 to February 15, 2017 are considered as “Overseas Candidates”. Also, neighboring countries from which there is no entry restrictions come under this category.

Eligibility:

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree with minimum marks of 50% from a UGC approved educational institution. Candidates appearing for final year examination or awaiting results may also apply. Such candidates should take the Graduate management admission test (GMAT).

Application procedure

Candidates seeking admission should apply in the given format which can be found on the official website of IIM Ranchi. In addition to completed application form, you are required to submit the following documents:

  • Valid GMAT score certificate, not older than two years.
  • Recommendation letters from two academic mentors/teachers/ employers from recent past.
  • Application fees of US $200 through demand draft in favour of IIM Ranchi, latest by January 31, 2017.

Final selection

Candidates will be selected on the basis of a minimum score of 670 in GMAT, academic performance , work experience and letter of reference. On selection, they will be required to appear for an interview, which is to be conducted in Chennai from mid- February to end of March 2017.
