IELTS Scam 2022: Should US authorities trust Indian agents?

IELTS Scam found On 13th August, Saturday in Ahmedabad, Gujarat three people are caught by Gujarat police who are associated with an Overseas education consultancy firm, they are altering mark sheets of students, to help them secure admission to international institutions.

An official said that “an owner whose office was intervened in, identified as Uniworld Education in Ahmedabad, and his two associates have been arrested for changing marks in a subject like English, which is the most important for the IELTS exam, and that helps students to get admission abroad.”

Inspector Sumit Rajput from Ellis Bridge police station said “English is the dominant subject for IELTS exams, and the accused are changing the marks of that subject, and they were involved in making fake mark sheets of students to go abroad to pursue studies.”

He further added that “During the raid conducted at the premises of the coaching center on a tip-off, we recovered 31 mark sheets of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board and Saurashtra University for the BBE course,”

These accused are taking mark sheets of these students wishing to go abroad who have fewer marks, then they take out the signatures from the original mark sheets and paste them on the fake mark sheets to showcase the originality of the mark sheet.

Sumit Rajput also informed that “the accused were charged heavily for this work. Police seized Rs 23 Lakhs in cash, computer labs, and mobile phones in the raid, and accused Manish Zaveri, Jitendra Thakor, and Nirav Wakharia were booked under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), 467, 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), and 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC”

This incident makes all aware of this exam. But the reason for this investigation is that 4 young boys were arrested in the US, and they weren’t able to speak English. In the IELTS exam, a good score in English is something around 6.5–7. Even brilliant students need to work hard to get a 6.0, and even after achieving that, they failed to communicate in English. So, US authorities sent a letter to Indian Police to intervene in this matter. Of the four boys who were arrested, two are from Gujarat, Mehsana, and the other two are from Gandhinagar and Patan.
