Karnataka: universities collaborate with US varsities for higher education

On January 10, Tuesday, four public universities in Karnataka signed agreements to collaborate with universities in Pennsylvania, USA, in the field of higher education.

According to a statement from the minister, the agreements that apply to undergraduate programs were signed at the State Higher Education Council (SHEC) in the presence of C N Ashwath Narayan, the Karnataka Minister for Higher Education.

Vice chancellors from each of the four public universities as well as PASSHE representatives were present, it was added.

Agreements were reached with the Commonwealth and Kutzdown Universities of Pennsylvania and Bangalore City University, Bangalore University, Mangalore University.

Millersville University and the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) signed a contract.

In accordance with the agreement, Bangalore City University would impart knowledge in the fields of English, computer science, business administration, sports management, and sports psychology.

Geo-information science and geography would both be advantageous to Bangalore University. According to the statement, this would also allow it to start twinning programs that would make it easier to send students to US universities.

Business administration and strategic communications are two areas where Mangalore University will work. In degree programs in geo-information science, the VTU will benefit.

According to a quote from Narayan, the agreements would also permit the joint development of research plans and new programs.
