Tuesday, Delhi AAP MLA Atishi said that Karnataka should concentrate on enhancing the quality of education and facilities in government schools rather than attempting to regulate private schools. She was speaking at a state-level education conference in Bengaluru.
AAP MLA(Atishi), who is also the head of the education committee of the Delhi Assembly, claimed that because of the government’s authoritarianism, management staff at private schools are hopping from one job to another rather than concentrating on growing their institutions. The government’s failure to adequately manage government schools is the reason why parents in Karnataka choose private schools and are required to pay high tuition. Government schools are in poor condition, teachers aren’t present in the classrooms, kids don’t have a bench to sit on, there’s no running water, and there aren’t clean restrooms, which is prompting parents to enrol their kids in private schools, according to Atishi.
She continued, “By introducing rules, the government is harassing private schools. These rules are in place so that private school administrators can appear before lawmakers and kneel down to them. The government should concentrate on promoting government schools rather than regulating and trying to regulate private schools.
In order to expose the challenges with private schools and develop a plan for resolving problems that affect the delivery of education, the symposium also featured a number of panel discussions with stakeholders from private schools and education professionals. The private management group has made a number of recommendations to the government, ranging from opposing the requirement that schools obtain a fire safety certificate to boosting the RTE refund.
