Students can pursue careers in a variety of sectors after completing a BTech in engineering physics, including photonics, climate science, energy systems, econophysics, biophysics, communication technologies, quantum information and quantum computing, micro and nano electronics, machine learning and data science, fundamental and applied research, among others.
IIT Patna: IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Patna Physics Department has introduced a new BTech program in Engineering Physics. The program’s main goals are to give students a solid foundation in physics and expose them to cutting-edge technologies. By fusing modern physics and electrical engineering, the course hopes to produce professionals who are equally at ease with both science and technology.
Other IITs like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Madras offer BTech in Engineering Physics programs, whereas IIT BHU offers a five-year integrated MTech program in Engineering Science. This program might be ideal for you if you want to learn a variety of topics from engineering, physics, and mathematics.
The undergraduate program lasts four years and is evenly divided into eight semesters. Each academic year is divided into two 17-week-long semesters, the Autumn semester (which runs from July to December) and the Spring semester (which runs from January to May).

Every semester, students will take seven to eight subjects, including Engineering Drawing, Electrical Sciences, Communicative English for Engineers, Mathematics I, and more. In the second semester, they will take Biology and Environmental Studies, Introductory Chemistry, Programming and Data Structure, and other subjects. Students can choose from a variety of electives in the program.
BTech in Engineering Physics- Eligibility criteria
Students who pass the IIT-JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) are accepted into the B.Tech. in Engineering Physics program. In addition, candidates must have passed 12th Class or above from a recognized state or national board at the time they apply.
BTech in Engineering Physics- Course fees
The first semester’s tuition for a BTech in Engineering Physics is Rs 1,00,000. Other fees, such as those for academics, accomodation, meals, transportation, and gymkhana are in addition to the tuition. Students who fall under the SC, ST, or PH categories will receive a full tuition cost waiver.
The most socially deprived students (those whose families earn less than Rs. 1,000,000 annually) will also receive a full waiver of the tuition charge. The other economically deprived students will receive a two-third tuition fee waiver if their family income is in the range of Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh per year.
