AMU to not acquire CUET for all UG programs

Aligarh Muslim University  (AMU) on Wednesday began its enrollment procedure but dissimilar to most central universities, AMU won’t acquire Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG 2023) for all undergrad programs.

UGC chief M Jagadesh Kumar told The Indian Express that it is “necessary for all central colleges to acquire CUET for all undergrad programs“.

He said all central university representatives were told about this in a video meeting he had held on February 13.

Inquired as to why the college isn’t following the UGC’s instruction, an AMU agent stated that they have not gotten any particular guidance from the Commission and hence would go on with the method acquired by the college last year.

“For the time being, we have chosen to go with these select projects for CUET,” Prof Shafey Kidwai of AMU said.

The UGC chief, in any case, said the Commission has connected with every single enrolled universities and asked to execute CUET. “CUET is for the development of students, and if any university isn’t embracing it, then we will take that up on an individual approach and request all colleges to acquire CUET totally,” Kumar said.

As per the authorized notification delivered by the college, CUET score will be acquired for the programmes BSc (Hons) Community Science, BA (Hons/Research) — Faculty of Social Sciences, BA (Hons/Research) — Faculty of Arts,  BVoc — Production Technology, BVoc — Fashion Design & Garment Technology and BVoc — Polymer and Coating Technology.
