University of Calicut School of Distance Education (UC-SDE), Kerala was established in 1981. Open stream courses are meant to meet the educational needs of those who have not acquired the basic qualification needed for admission to regular courses. It offers courses  at undergraduate and post graduate levels. It has study centers situated in India and abroad.

Students will be supplied with an identity card by SDE, bearing the enrollment number. It is valid for the entire period of the course and it should be retained by the students till completion of the course. Study materials will be supplied only for courses offered by the SDE, having enrollment of 50 students or more students.
The University also provides a library for reference purposes of the students of the SDE. Additionally, the University conducts Contact Classes for the benefit of the students. The examination for the students of the School of Distance Education will be conducted by the Controller of Examinations, University of Calicut.

Courses Offered:
The University offers Masters and Bachelors in Arts, Science, Commerce, Business Administration, Theater art, Technology etc. and Diploma / Post Graduate Diploma in Natural Disaster Management, Clinical Pathology, Virtual Communication etc.
Admissions:
Step 01 : Remit the fee through Calicut University Instant payment System which can be accessed by clicking the E-Payment Button. The purpose of remittance may be selected from the list. Payment can be made through SBT online payment System, SBT E-challan System and E-Challans through Friends Janasevana Kendras and Akshaya Kendras.
Step 02 : After the successful Payment, the candidate will get a Barcode/Chalan Number and a Security Code by sms or by email.
Step 03 : Click on your Course and select your link.
Step 04 : Type your Barcode/Chalan Number and Security Code in the Space Provided.
Step 05 : After the successful completion of Registration, you will get print-out of the application.
