Introduction
The Faculty of Law, Banaras Hindu University (recently named as Banaras Law School) is one of the top 25 Law Schools in India including National Law Schools. Since its establishment in the year 1923, the faculty has been continuously playing a significant role in revamping the legal education in the country. It is a matter of satisfaction that the innovative scheme of the Law School to reform the legal education was adopted by the Bar Council of India at the national level and brought changes in the pattern of legal education all over the country. Law School, during this period, apart from launching new courses also experimented with new techniques of pedagogy which was a total departure from the transfer of information of knowledge taking place in classes all over the country.
The Banaras Law School was the first in the country to introduce the class method/ problem method in teaching methodology at both LL.B. and LL.M. levels The Law School was perhaps the first in the country to prepare case materials for the students of LL.B.
Course and Eligibility
Program: LL.B.
Eligibility: Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university
Program: LLM.
Eligibility: LL.B. from any recognized university
Selection:- The admission to both Under Graduate Course LL.B. and Post Graduate Course LL.M. is through All India Entrance Examination conducted by the University generally in the month of May. Forms are generally published in the month of Feburary-March.
Course Pattern:
The Post Graduate Course consists of 4 Semesters (2 year) LL.M degree. There are two courses conducted by the faculty-
