National Law Institute University - Bhopal

Introduction

National Law Institute University (NLIU) Bhopal  was established by the Rastriya Vidhi Sansthan Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, 1997 enacted by Madhya Pradesh State Legislature. It is a fully residential university equipped with all modern facilities. It has an excellent library with good collection of books, journals and electronic data bases.

The NLIU follows trimester system with interdisciplinary teaching of Social Sciences, Language Skills, Computer Applications, along with law subjects from the beginning.
The optional seminar courses are offered in the fifth year like Water Law, Disability Law, Health Law and Space Law etc.

The five year integrated course in B.A., LL.B.(Hons.) run by the National Law Institute University, Bhopal provides a golden opportunity to candidates desirous of taking up law as a profession after passing their class 12th.

Course and Eligibility

Program: B.A., LL.B. (Hons.)

Eligibility: The candidate seeking the admission

  • must not have less than 50% of the total marks in 10 2 or its equivalent examination thereto. This requirement is reduced to 45% in case of SC, ST and OBC categories
  • must be less than 20 years of age as on 1st July 2008. Relaxation of 2 years is permitted for candidates of reserved categories.


Intake Capacity

The NLIU admits 82 students for its B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) programme. Out of these 82 seats, 41 seats are for All India Candidates and remaining 41 seats are for the residents of Madhya Pradesh to be filled up through Common Law Admission Test.

Program: LL.M.

Eligibility

A candidate should have secured a LL.B. degree or its equivalent examination from a recognized University, having obtained not less than 55% marks in the aggregate (50% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC).

Intake Capacity

Total Seats – 45 5; 5 seats shall be reserved for candidates who have five years of working experience in Human Rights Organization and are sponsored by their parent organization.

Course Pattern

The NLIU follows a trimester system where under the academic year is divided into three parts and six subjects are taught in each trimester for B.A.LL.B. program. Similarly, the LL.M. (General) programme comprises study of the six compulsory courses and four courses in the area of optional subjects and a dissertation prepared during fourth semester.
