The Malaviya Regional Engineering College (MREC), Jaipur was established in 1962 as an initiative of Government of Rajasthan and Government of India for providing engineering training in the country. The institute was further renamed as Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur in January 2002. With a Deemed University status the institute awards its own degree and diplomas in different disciplines. The institute also participates in the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme of the Government of India and the World Bank.
The Institute takes 50% students from Rajasthan and the remaining 50% comes from rest of India. The Institute has the following facilities:
MNIT Jaipur has adequate sports and co-curricular facilities. A full-fledged dispensary is available in the campus. It is supervised by a residential Medical Officer. Students and staff can take the services of a part-time Homeopathy Doctor and a Lady Doctor.
