MNIT AllahabadThe foundation stone of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) the erstwhile Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College was laid by former Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on June 26,1961 with the joint efforts of Government of India and Government of Uttar Pradesh. The institute was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India Sri Lal Bahaur Shastri on 18 April 1965. MNNIT gained the status of deemed university on 26thJune 2002.
The Institute offers study opportunities to approximately 500 students at Under Graduate level and 150 students at Post Graduate level.
The Central library has 1,04,382 Collection of books. Information data bank is constantly updated and facilities are added. The present library area spreads over 2455.49 sqm.
The Central Library provides 25 internet connections to its user and majority of students frequently use on-line journals for their research activities. Central Library has fully computerized catalogue search facility available to users through intranet. The Institute has a fully equipped computer center.The Design center of MNNIT conducts R & D and consultancy activities in the area of CAD / CAM, PCB Design, Robotics, Image Processing and Vision Systems, Air Pollution Control and Structural Testing. MNNIT also has good lab facilities in each department for the practical as well as research purposes. There are seven boys and two girls hostels at present in the Institute. There is an outpatient dispensary catering to the need of 3000 students.
The institute is open to students of different nationalities and hence has developed cross cultural environment. Students from nations like Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Mauritius, Malaysia, Iran, Yemen, Iraq, Palestine and Thailand come every year to MNNIT Allahabad.
