State Institute of Education Technology (SIET)

[read_meter]

The present day Bihar is one of the major states of the Republic of India. This is the land of glorious traditions and antiquity and the name Bihar is derived from the ancient word ‘Vihara’ which means a monastery. it is indeed a land of monasteries. Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, Muslims and Sikh shrines abound in this ancient land where several mighty empires rose and fell.

It has been a seat of learning — where the ruins of the world’s ancient universities slumber in the void of time, while the giant steel complexes spew fire all the year round. Forty percent of India’s mineral wealth lies buried in its bosom. Its fertile plains are enriched by the passage of the Ganges, flowing wide and deep before distributing itself in Bengal’s delta-zone. Bihar, the land of innocent tribes has a splendid tradition of melodious folk tunes and highly rhythmical tribal dances. Indeed, Bihar has an impressive past which one can be proud of.
