Admission Procedure and eligibility criteria for admission to various courses in SRFTII, Kolkata is given below:

Selection Process : The students are short listed to the three-year PG Diploma in cinema through three stages- written examination, interactive orientation session and a Medical examination.

Application
: Candidates desirous of pursuing three-year course in PG Diploma in Cinema has to first of all fill a prescribed application form and sent to the institute accompanied by

    • A crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 800/- (Rs.500/- in case of SC/ST candidates against submission of valid certificate) drawn in favour of Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, Kolkata, payable at Kolkata,
    • Four recent photographs(3cm X 2.5cm) pasted properly on the space specified on each of the application form, admit card and receipt card ; one more photograph stapled with Application Form with applicant’s name written on the backside
    • Attested copy of the educational qualification certificate (graduation).
    • Notarised copy of the SC/ST/OBC Certificate (as applicable).
    • Attested copy of the Annual income of father/guardian.


Written Examination : The written examination is held at various centres throughout the country and consists of two sections-General Knowledge and Mental Aptitude Test(1 hour duration), and Specific Area Aptitude (1 hour 30 minutes duration). While the first section is same for all students, the second section differs according to the specialization opted by the student.

Interactive orientation session & viva voce : Those who qualify the written examination have to go through another test- Interactive orientation session & viva voce. The session is conducted at Institute’s campus for 5 to 6 days. The institute provides accommodation to the students for the entire period.

Medical Examination : The candidates qualifying written as well as Interactive session have are medically examined before finally being selected by the institute for the course.

Reservation : The institute reserve few seats in its course for three categories of students

    • Students hailing from economically backward section of society,
    • Foreign candidates and
    • Disabled candidates

1. Economically backward students : In order to secure admission in the course on a reserved seat, economically backward students must possess minimum qualifications prescribed for admission besides qualifying the written test and interview/viva voce, conducted by the institute. The institute also seeks copies of their reservation credentials duly notarized.

2. Foreign Candidates :
The institute reserves two seats per discipline for foreign students. The students apply to course through Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). At the time of admission, candidates are required to submit to the institute the credentials regarding his/her knowledge of English Language.

3. Disable candidates : The institute reserves few seats for candidates with disability, but provides admission to them only after their successful qualifying the entrance test with some concessions approval of the medical board.
