NEET PG Counselling 2022: Cut- Off Score Reduced by 25 Percentile

In order to help fill the large number of vacant seats in NEET PG counselling last year, the Ministry of Health has approved the NEET PG revised percentile.

NEET PG Counseling 2022

In a recent announcement, the National Medical Commission has stated that the Centre has approved lowering the cut-off marks for admission to PG medical programmes.

According to the official notice, the cut-off marks have been decreased by 25 percentile across all categories, with a few exceptions.

For the general category, the reduced cut-off is 25 percentile, 20 percentile for PwD General category candidates, 15 percentile for SC/ST/OBC and 15 percentile for PwD (SC/ST/OBC).

Considering that a large number of seats had gone vacant in the PG counselling conducted for admissions of last year, it was decided that the cut-off for admission to postgraduate courses for 2022-23 should be reduced by 25 percentile across all categories.

An official source told PTI that such post-graduate seats going vacant is a sheer wastage of resources in a country where postgraduate medical seats are premium.

The MCC has added 197 seats to the first round of the seat allocation process of NEET UG counselling as these could not be contributed by colleges before the start of the first round of UG counselling 2022.

“The Medical Counselling Committee has received information from following institutes (list enclosed) about new seats which could not be contributed by the colleges before the start of round-1 of UG counselling 2022 as LoPs from NMC were received on 17.10.2022. Therefore, the competent authority has decided to include the following MBBS seats in the seat matrix of round-1 of UG counselling 2022 for the larger interest of candidates,” the official MCC notice stated.

The Hong Kong-based school is followed by Ceibs (from China/Switzerland/Ghana) at second and Tsinghua University/Insead (from China/Singapore/France/UAE) as third. In the NIRF Rankings for business schools in 2022, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) kept the first rank, followed by IIM-Bangalore and IIM-Calcutta. The top three ranks have been the same since 2020. IIT Delhi and IIM Kozhikode came in fourth and fifth this year — an exchange of positions from last year.

JEE Main Scam: Russian Man Arrested for Hacking and Helping 820 Students Cheat Online

The NTA has also debarred 20 candidates for three years from appearing in the JEE Main. The accused, Mikhail Shargin, has been sent to CBI custody till October 6.

JEE Main Scam

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced that the Joint Engineering Exam (JEE Main), which decides the future of thousands of Indian students, was allegedly hacked last year by a Russian national named Mikhail Shargan

Giving further details about the incident, the CBI said that it occurred in 2021.

Shargan hacked into the software of JEE provided by TCS, one of the largest IT companies in India. JEE is a computer-based entrance test where over a million students appear and are administered throughout India to determine admission to engineering colleges such as IIT, NIT, and NIIT.

Shargan hacked the TCS software, which the JEE was using as a platform to conduct exams to provide remote connectivity to take over the computer terminals of students appearing for the exam. This means that through hacking, students will be able to cheat easily, as now the teachers or their coaches will be able to access their computers and give exams on their behalf.

An instance was reported of a private coaching center in Uttar Pradesh named ‘Affinity Education’ that solved the question paper on behalf of students who paid the institute nearly $1227 to $1841.

20 students who were caught cheating on their exams by using remote access through an examination center in Sonepat, Haryana are now banned from taking the exam for the next three years.

Shargan was arrested at Delhi airport by the authorities after he landed from Kazakhstan. The case was then registered by the CBI, which conducted raids in different cities and seized laptops involved in the examination scam.
