Universities to Refund Full Fee If Student Cancels Admission: UGC

In an effort to be more financially accessible to students, the chairman of the UGC, Professor M. Jagadesh Kumar, has announced that colleges and universities should give full refunds of fees for the academic session of 2022-23.

UGC

The UGC has directed all colleges and universities to refund the entire fee if a student cancels their admission. With the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) results for 2022 not being released yet, many students have already taken admission to private colleges as a backup option.

The chairman of the commission has asked that all higher educational institutes give a full refund of fees for the academic session 2022-23. He noted that there should be zero cancellation charges on account of cancellations or migrations up to October 31 and more than Rs 1,000 as a processing fee if cancellation is done by December of this year.

The universities will now have to refund the entire fee, including all charges, if a student cancels or migrates up to October 31, 2022. This is in line with the refund policy of many private universities, which states that after one month of commencement of courses, the fee cannot be refunded. Several universities begin their academic sessions in mid-August and September, so the extended fee refund policy will apply to the current academic session.

The CUET 2022 phase II exams are set to begin today and will conclude on August 20. The results are expected to be announced within 15 days. By the time admissions commence for universities participating in the CUET, the refund window for private colleges not participating will have expired. The UGC has taken this step to provide relief to students and parents and eliminate their financial hardships.

KCET 2022: Document verification to start from August 8 on kea.kar.nic.in

The date for KCET Counseling 2022 has been announced. The document verification process will begin on August 8, 2022, for qualified candidates

CUET 2022

The date for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test, KCET Counseling 2022, has been announced. According to Karnataka Higher Education Minister Dr C. N. Ashwath Narayan, KCET 2022 document verification will begin on August 8, 2022, for the qualified candidates. The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) announced that they would be postponing the KCET counseling 2022 on August 2, 2022 via an official notice issued on the website.

The Karnataka Higher Education Minister also informed that the Class 12th marks of the 2021 repeaters will not be considered, as per the report. The Minister called it “unfair” to consider the Class 12th marks of the CET repeaters this year.

The KCET rank for 2022 will be determined by a student’s marks from both the KCET 2022 and their Class 12th marks. KEA has announced that they will not be taking PUC marks into consideration for CET repeaters and the Karnataka Education minister has said that this decision is supported. In 2021, CET rankings were entirely based on a student’s CET score because the Class 12th exams had been canceled and students were assessed through alternative criteria.

Students who qualify for KCET-2022 will be able to get admission to their choice of course and college via UGCET 2022 counseling. The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) will offer admission to students through several steps, including document verification, choice filling, seat allotment results, and reporting to the allotted institutes.

The KCET-2022 result was declared on July 30, 2022, and KEA announced that counselling would begin on August 5. However, the counselling date was later postponed.

New Zealand opens its borders to students and travelers: everything you need to know is here.

International students can now resume their studies in New Zealand as New Zealand has finally opened its border after almost 700 days of lockdown.

New zealand opens its border

After over 700 days of living under strict COVID-19 lockdowns, New Zealanders can finally travel overseas again. The country’s phased reopening was completed on July 31, months ahead of schedule, which means that students, tourists, and other visitors from all over the world will be allowed to enter New Zealand. This is especially great news for those coming from non-visa waiver countries like India and China.

“It’s been a staged and cautious process on our part since February, as we, alongside the rest of the world, continue to manage a very live global pandemic while keeping our people safe,” said Prime Minister Jacinda Arden.

“For those looking to make their journey here, haere mai, we welcome you,” she added.

Visitors from all over the world will be able to enjoy the beauty of New Zealand. International students, tourists, and nationals from non-visa waiver countries will all be welcome. Those traveling by cruise ship or maritime travel will also be able to take part in all that the country has to offer.

The open border policy went into effect on August 1. This means that as long as individuals meet the entry requirements, which are still quite strict, they are allowed to enter New Zealand.

The country’s opening of its borders comes as it is seeing a rise in infections. New Zealand has had more than 52,000 COVID-19 cases in the past week. The country is one of seven countries in the world regarding average daily confirmed COVID-19 infections per 100,000 people, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

Scientists from the University of Auckland also recently put out a study that said reopening borders could lead to COVID-19 cases becoming more widespread as foreign cases of the pandemic puts extra pressure on local healthcare systems.
