The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has announced that the release of the admit card for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, GATE 2023 will be delayed. Candidates who applied for the exam can download the hall ticket or admit card once released from the official website of GATE — gate.iitk.ac.in.

The admit card for the entrance test was initially scheduled to release today (January 3), however, it will now be available on January 9, IIT-Kanpur has informed.

You will be directed to a new page.
Enter your login credentials and download your admit card.
Print your admit card and bring it with you to the exam hall.
No candidate will be allowed to enter without an admit card.

The national-level exam, GATE, tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, and arts.

The exam is conducted annually on a rotational basis by seven IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Guwahati, Roorkee, Madras, and Kharagpur) and IISc Bangalore on behalf of the National Coordination Board. GATE 2023 will be conducted for 29 papers and candidates will be allowed to appear in up to two papers.

Yavatmal: A report released on Wednesday revealed that Yavatmal, which was one of the low-performing districts (LPDs) in Maharashtra based on the results of the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2017 and the Mid-Term Achievement Survey (MTAS) conducted in November 2022, had improved.

A graph of students’ performance in languages, math, and environmental studies from classes III and V showed a significant improvement, according to the report.

The MTAS report revealed that, compared to 2017, a total of 63% of Class III students from Yavatmal schools can now read printed scripts on classroom walls, such as poems and charts. In addition, from 45% in 2017, 50% of students now have the ability to solve simple addition and subtraction sums. In contrast to mathematics, which showed only a slight improvement in some tasks, the performance graph for Class V students has shown more improvement in language skills. According to the MTAS report, the percentage of Class V students who can read text with comprehension has significantly increased from 49 percent in 2017 to 62 percent. But from 50% in 2017, only 30% of students now have the ability to read and write numbers greater than 1,000.

The effectiveness of the students in various subjects is gauged using mean units. In the MTAS report, it rose for Class III in mathematics to 58 from 53 and for languages to 63 from 59 (in 2017). In Class V, it increased from 49 to 62 in languages and from 41 to 46 in mathematics.

SCERT and the District Institute of Education and Teachers (DIET) began focusing on enhancing the student’s educational experiences after Yavatmal was designated an LPD. Yavatmal DIET’s district coordinator, Dr. Ramesh Raut, stated, “We appointed block-level coordinators, which was essentially a network of proactive teachers, to prepare a roadmap for improved MTAS outcomes. Innovative teaching strategies were developed to boost students’ Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) skills through educational games, and question banks were created for practice exams so that efforts could be redirected.

The IITs will offer 66 seats to foreign nationals in 2022. In the previous five years, the number in this category had not surpassed 10. According to experts, this is due to a change in the definition of foreign nationals applying to professional courses in India. According to a government order effective in March 2021, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), who were previously treated equally with Indians for seats in government institutions, are now regarded as foreign nationals and are included in the category. These students receive extra seats with higher fees.

The IITs’ previous foreign national category had over 10 students in it over the previous five years. However, the total is in line with this year when the OCI and PIO candidates are included. There were 62 OCI and 5 PIO candidates for the eight seats that were offered to foreign nationals in 2021. There were 62 OCI and 2 PIO candidates in 2020, along with 2 foreign nationals. There were 0 foreign nationals in 2019, but there were 36 OCI and 4 PIO candidates.

“Based on the Gazette Issued by the Government of India on March 4, 2021, all OCI/PIO candidates are treated as foreign nationals for JEE (Advanced) and Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JOSAA) for seat allocation in IITs,” the report declared. Foreign nationals were given the opportunity to take up to 10% of the extra seats in each program. This year, the IITs added 66 supernumerary seats for foreign applicants.

Captain Shiva Chouhan of the Indian Army’s Fire and Fury Corps became the first woman officer to ever be deployed at the world’s highest battlefield, Siachen. The captain completed a month of arduous training at Siachen Battle School.

Captain Shiva Chouhan Journey

In 2021, shiva goy was commissioned into the Engineering Regiment of the Indian Army as a Lieutenant. Later, Shiva was promoted to the post of captain through field ranking.

In July 2022, Capt Chouhan successfully led the Sura Soi Cycling Expedition from Siachen War Memorial to Kargil War Memorial, covering a distance of 508 km. This was conducted on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas and was a huge success.

She took on the challenge of leading the men of the Sura Soi Engineer Regiment at Siachen and did so admirably that she was selected to undergo training at the Siachen Battle School.

The officer was put through challenging and difficult training at the battle school, where she trained with other Indian Army commanders. Exercises like endurance training, ice wall climbing, avalanche and crevasse rescue, and survival exercises were all part of the program. Despite a lot of obstacles, Captain Shiva Chouhan completed the program with great perseverance.

She finally arrived at the Siachen Glacier on January 2nd after a long and difficult journey. The Sappers, led by Captain Shiva Chouhan, will now be responsible for several military engineering activities at the location for the next three months.

Captain Shiva Chouhan Family

Captain Shiva Chouhan is born and bought up in a Rajasthani Hindu Family. Her father’s name is not known, however, according to the reports Shiva lost her father at the age of 11. Her mother is a housewife and was responsible for taking care of shiva’s studies.

In an interview, Shiva Chauhan revealed that it was her mother who motivated her to become an Army Officer. She mentioned that she learned presentation skills from her elder sister, saying that it was helpful in honing her leadership skills.

“Since her childhood, she was motivated to join Indian Armed Forces and showcased unparalleled zeal during training at OTA (Officers Training Academy), Chennai and was commissioned into the Engineer Regiment in May 2021,” the Army said.

Captain Shiva Chouhan Education

Captain Shiva Chouhan is a Bengal Sapper from Rajasthan. She did her schooling in Udaipur. After completing her school, Shiva graduated from the NJR Institute of Technology in Udaipur with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
