All India Medical Entrance Examination
The Annamalai University conducts Medical Entrance Examination Every year for admission towards various Nursing Programme courses into its Medicine department, The Rajah Muthiah Medical College and Hospital.
The University offers Nursing course in medicine leading to B.Sc. Nursing Programme, M.Sc. Nursing Programme. The programmes are recognised by Medical Council of India (MCI).
B.Sc. – Bachelor of Science (Nursing Programme) awarded by Annamalai University is recognised by the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and permanent recognition for the Programme has been granted by the Tamil Nadu Nursing Council, Chennai. The duration of the course is 4 ½ years including 6 months internship training.
M.Sc. – Master of Science Nursing programme of Annamalai University is of two years duration. Programme is available in the following disciplines; (a) Medical Surgical Nursing, (b) Child Health Nursing, (c) Maternity Nursing, (d) Community Health Nursing.
Eligibility Criteria
B.Sc. Nursing Programme
Age :Â Candidate must have completed 17 years and must not have completed 21 years of age on the month of December of the year of examination. Only unmarried female candidates can apply.
Educational Qualification :Â Pass in Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) of Tamil Nadu state board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with English or an equivalent examination.
Reservation :Â Few seats are reserved for the candidates who have proved them in sports and for the nominees of of those who have notably contributed to the development of Muthamizh (Iyal, Isai and Nadagam).
M.Sc. (Nursing) Programme
1. Candidates must have Passed the B.Sc. Degree in Nursing of Annamalai University or any other University, equivalent equivalent to Annamalai University.
2. Basic B.Sc. Nursing graduates should have two years of Teaching experience in a Teaching hospital or in a College or in a School of Nursing or in Community Health Programme after graduation.
However, this condition shall not apply to Post certificate B.Sc. Nursing graduates for admission to the M.Sc. Nursing Programme. Post certificate B.Sc. Nursing graduates may be admitted to M.Sc. Nursing soon after the graduation in any branch of study.
3. The candidate seeking admission into Maternity Nursing and Community Health Nursing shall be a Registered Nurse and a Registered Midwife whereas for the other specialities, the candidate shall be a Registered Nurse.
Important Note:Â All candidates are required to appear for Entrance Examination and interview on the same day or the day following the entrance examination, at Annamalainagar, at their own expenses.
