The University of Burdwan is one of the top institutes of higher education in eastern India. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of UGC designated it as a B++. University of Burdwan, Directorate of Distance Education, Bardhaman (Burdwan University DDE) was established in 1994. It conducts post graduate studies in distance mode.Â

The Burdwan University DDE provides access to higher education to persons of all age groups in any part of the country. It is particularly beneficial for working persons who haven’t been able to pursue higher courses of studies as regular full-time students of the University.Â

It provides a system of student-centered self-paced learning which will neither be entirely separate from nor wholly independent of the formal, full-time campus system of education as traditionally followed in University departments of studies.
It provides with 66 post graduate courses, has around 218 esteemed faculties and is affiliated with 205 colleges nationally.

All the courses of Burdwan University Distance Education has been approved by UGC and the Distance Education Council. Burdwan University Distance Education offers M.A. in History, Philosophy, Bengali, Mathematics, English, Political Science, Sanskrit, M.Sc.Computer Science, M.A./M.Sc. in Remote Sensing & Geographic Information System, MBA (Finance/ Marketing / Human Resource / Insurance & Risk Management), and M.Com courses.
