IIMA 2023: Prof Bharat Bhasker appointed as IIMA Director

Pankaj R Patel, Chairperson of the IIMA Board of Governors, praised the appointment of Bhasker as the institute’s new director. “As a successful leader with experience in technology, I am confident that Professor Bhasker will carry forward the legacy and lead IIMA to newer horizons,” Patel said. He also thanked Prof D’Souza for his outstanding contributions to the institute during his tenure.

The search and selection committee, formed by the IIMA Board of Governors, shortlisted 13 candidates for the institute’s top position.

The Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Management appointed Bharat Bhasker as the next Director for the institute during a meeting held at the IIMA campus on Monday.

A graduate of IIT Roorkee, Prof. Bhasker earned his MS and PhD from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), in the USA.

He has been associated with IIM Lucknow for over two decades in various capacities, including his stint as acting director from August to November 2015. He also served as the dean of Planning and Development at IIM Sirmaur from 2003 to 2005.

He has been a visiting professor at ESSEC Business School, Paris, France and the University of Texas, Dallas. He was a distinguished professor at Chung-Ang University in Seoul, Korea and a research professor at the University of California-Riverside. He is currently an adjunct faculty member at Information Systems at the University of Maryland.
