Indian School of Mines (ISM) is a premier institution of international repute. The Department of Management Studies of the School launched its MBA program in 1997. The erstwhile Department of Industrial Engineering and Management (IE&M) was restructured and re-christened as Department of Management Studies.
Having run the M.Tech program of IE&M for two full decades, the requisite experience as well as expertise was available with the department to run the MBA program.

The Department of Management Studies, Indian School of Mines University has only registered upward growth since its inception in 1997. The Department has a Training and Placement cell headed by a placement adviser working under the overall supervision of the Head of Department.
The cell is instrumental in organizing Training and Placement for the students of MBA. ISM Dhanbad offers the following program in management:
The MBA program is a two-year full time course. Each academic year is divided into two semesters. In the first year, students are exposed to core courses consisting of certain basic and functional areas of management.
In the summer vacation at the end of first year, students are required to spend approximately eight weeks in an organization, doing a project on some significant aspect or problem of management.
In the second year, besides completing the remaining core courses, students pursue elective courses in two of the following areas of interest such as Marketing, Finance, Human Resource and Operations Management.
Each student has to choose two elective courses from one area of specialization and one elective course from the second area of specialization in the third semester. In the fourth semester the pattern is reversed.

A selected candidate who fails to take admission by the last date may loose his/her claim and seat may be offered to the wait-listed candidates. On the last date of the admission – after 12 Noon, the seats may be offered on ‘first come first serve’ basis to wait listed candidates. Fees once paid are not refundable.

1. Applicant shall have to appear CAT – 2011. Once they receive the CAT 2011 scores, they have to apply online at the Application Submission System available at the institute website – http://www.ismdhanbad.ac.in.
2. The institute will not issue any letter to any candidate regarding attending GD/PI as well as selection to the Program. The candidates must consult institute’s website (www.ismdhanbad.ac.in) regularly in this regard or for any updates, if any.
The CAT application form and bulletin issued by IIMs can be obtained from select branches of State Bank of India.
