AILET 2015 Eligibility Criteria

AILET 2015 is being conducted by NLU, Delhi for admission to its various law programs for 2015-2016 session. The eligibility criteria for applying to each of these programs through AILET are as follows: 

 

B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) (5 year course)

Eligibility: You should have cleared your Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2) or equivalent examination with 50% marks. You can also apply if you’re appearing in the 12th standard examination in March/April, 2015.

Age: You should be below 21 years as on 1 July, 2015 (23 years in case of SC/ST candidates).

Total Seats: 80 [70 seats on merit through All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) and 10 seats for direct admission to Foreign Nationals on merit]. Foreign Nationals should have 65% marks in the qualifying examination to be eligible.

Reservation: 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and 3% for Persons with Disabilities.

Note: One additional seat for Kashmiri Migrants. They have to appear in the AILET and fulfill the eligibility criteria as applicable

 

 

LL.M. (1 year course)

Eligibility: You should have cleared your LL.B. or an Equivalent Degree with 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disability). You can also apply if you’re your appearing in final LL.B. examination in April/May, 2015.

Total Seats: 20 + 5 seats for Foreign Nationals. Foreign Nationals don’t need to take AILET for LL.M admissions.
Reservation: 15% for SC Candidates, 7.5% for ST Candidates, 3% for Persons with Disabilities.

Ph.D.

Eligibility: You should have an LL.M. Degree with 55% marks or its equivalent (50% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disability).
Or
You should have a degree in law and a Masters Degree with M. Phil in social sciences or humanities of any recognised university with not less than 55% marks or its equivalent.
Or
You should have a degree in law and Ph.D. in any discipline.
Or
You should be a judge of any State High Court in India with three years’ experience or Judge of Supreme Court of India.
Or
The Vice-Chancellor may allow a member of the NLU, Delhi faculty to pursue the Ph.D. Degree course along with his / her teaching assignment in the interest of faculty improvement provided that their teaching responsibilities are not affected in any way, and  that such candidates meet the conditions prescribed in the Ph.D. Regulations.

Total Seats: The Number of seats for Ph.D. will depend on the availability of suitable candidates but it will not exceed 10 students in an academic year.

The candidates who have qualified for UGC NET / JRF, SLET, and M. Phil. are exempted from taking the admission test.
All qualified candidates shall make a presentation before the Doctoral Committee on the proposed topic of research on a date notified by the University.
