National University of Advanced Legal Studies


Introduction


The National University of Advanced Legal Studies came into existence in the year 2005. The university accepts CLAT scores for admission to its B.A LL.B. (Hons.) course. It is one of the best universities imparting legal education in India. In 2008, an amendment streamlined the powers and functions of the authorities of the University and ensured the active involvement of the Government of Kerala.

Course and Eligibility

The candidate for CLAT shall have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate examination (10 2) or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto with 50 % marks.

Exemption from the requirement of the minimum of 50% for the qualifying examination is given to the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST), Persons With Disability (PWD) and candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (declared as such in the State of Kerala). These categories are allowed to apply for CLAT if they do have not less than 45 % marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

The candidate shall not have completed 20 years of age as on 1st July, 2010. However, candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (declared eligible for reservation in the State of Kerala) and Persons With Disability (PWD) shall not have completed 22 years of age as on 1st July, 2010. Students who are appearing for the qualifying examination are allowed to appear for CLAT.

Eligibility

The minimum qualification for admission shall be a pass in the 5 year B. A. LL.B. (Hons.) Degree Examination with a minimum of 50% of the total marks in the aggregate. However, candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) are allowed to apply if they do have not less than 45% marks in the qualifying examination. Students who are appearing for the qualifying examination in full are also allowed to appear for the entrance test.

Course Pattern

The National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi follows semester system under which an academic year is divided into two parts and five or six subjects are taught in each semester.
