The Indian Embassy in China issued an advisory to the students who are planning to pursue medical studies in China in the wake of thousands of students being stuck in India for two years due to COVID outbreak and Beijing’s COVID Visa Ban.

A detailed advisory cautioning the Indian students planning to study medicine in China about the low passing percentage, mandatory learning of official language Putonghua and stringent norms that are to be met for practice in India has been issued by India in the wake of thousands of students being stuck in India due to COVID Visa Ban for the past two years and as Chinese medical colleges began admissions for new students from India and other countries.The advisory also highlighted that only 16 percent of the students were able to qualify for practice in India between 2015 and 2021.

It also said that the students and parents should directly contact the universities for fee structure and published the list of 45 accredited universities. It also said that it was not advisable for students to take admission in any other universities apart from the published ones as the Chinese official communication clearly mentions that only the mentioned 45 universities are authorized to issue medical degrees to foreign students. Furthermore it stated that the English Language skills of Chinese teachers was one of the major challenges based on the feedback from past students.

Practice License in China mandatory for Practice in India

The advisory also made it clear that Indian students graduating from China need to get a license for practice in China as a physician after completing the internship and qualifying the physician qualification examination. Only then will they be eligible to appear for the FMC examination required for practice in India. In addition to that, the students should also clear the NEET UG examination
