Andhra Pradesh Schools Will be Celebrating Teachers' Day With A Week-long Edu Fest.

T DAY

This year, Andhra Pradesh will be celebrating the 60th Teachers’ Day Celebration with a week-long Edu Fest from August 29th to September 5th. This celebration is extra special because it is the 60th anniversary since it started in 1962, on the birthdate of former President and scholar Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The event will start with National Sports Day celebrations on August 29th and will continue with various other programs throughout the week.

Teachers’ Day was unable to be celebrated in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the festivities will begin with the National Sports Day celebration on August 29. Officials from the Education department, teachers, Parents Committees, non-government organizations, philanthropists, Old Students Associations, and retired teachers will be involved in conducting the fest. In schools, staff meetings will be held to analyze the students’ performance through baseline assessment.

On the second day of school, students will form clubs related to their interests, with teachers as mentors. Discussions on school safety guidelines will also be held in all schools. The parent’s committee of each school will hold a meeting on September 1st to invite NGOs, philanthropists, alumni, retired teachers, and local public representatives to showcase the best practices being adopted.

Various schemes to help students improve would be highlighted, he said. On September 2, there would be a health check for teachers and students. There would also be a discussion on career guidance. Various competitions related to Teachers’ Day would be conducted on September 3 for students as well as teachers. Sports and games for teachers are lined up on September 4 while learning outcomes of students, class, and subject-wise, would be displayed.

On Teachers’ Day, those who have been recognized as the best teachers, as well as retired teachers, will be celebrated. Students will honor their teachers on this occasion. The day will also include cultural programs put on by teachers and students, and the distribution of prizes to winners of various competitions. The Edu Fest-2022 will end with ‘Upadhyaya Deevenalu’ (teachers’ blessings) to students,” Mr. Kumar added. The Commissioner directed the Regional Joint Directors and District Educational Officers to visit the schools to make sure the events are carried out effectively.
